Bishop David Oyedepo was born September 27 1954 in Osogbo but in a native Omu Aran, Kwara State. He was born into a mix religious family, his father,Ibrahim was a Muslim healer and his mother Dorcas was a member of the Eternal Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement, a branch of the Aladura Movement in Nigeria. He was trained by his grandmother who taught him the virtue of Christian ways and also the importance of tithing. "Papa",as commonly called by his congregation and followers, became born again in the year 1969 through the influence of his teacher,referred to as Ms Betty Lasher. He studied architecture at Kwara State Polythenic and worked briefly with the Federal Ministry of Housing Ilorin before resigning to face the work of God he is known for today.
Bishop Oyedepo received a mandate from God in an 18 long hours vision in may 1981 to liberate the people of the world from the operation of the devil through the word of God. This inaugural vision led to the of the known Living Faith Church World Wide also known as Winners Chapel. It was first called the Liberation Faith Hour Ministry in 1981.
